July is Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month

The Southeast Association of Community Action Agencies (SEACAA) recognizes July 2025 as National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, also known as Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. This month serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing need to address the unique mental health challenges and systemic disparities experienced by Black, Indigenous, Latino, Asian, and other communities of color.

First established in honor of author, journalist, and mental health advocate Bebe Moore Campbell, this month calls on us to:

  • Acknowledge the persistent gaps in access to quality mental health care for minority populations.
  • Amplify culturally responsive solutions that empower individuals and families to seek help.
  • Advocate for policies and funding that close racial disparities in mental health systems.

At SEACAA, we believe that mental wellness is a critical part of the fight against poverty. Community Action Agencies across the Southeast continue to provide education, outreach, and connection to care—helping reduce stigma and increase access to lifesaving support.

📍 Whether you’re a provider, parent, community leader, or someone in need—this is the month to speak up, reach out, and promote healing in every community.

📞 If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 for the 24/7 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or visit nami.org/help.
