Celebrating Powerful Testimony & Representation of Community Action on Capitol Hill

This morning, I had the pleasure of watching the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education – Public Witness Day hearing held at the Capitol. I’m extremely proud to share that one of the witnesses was our very own Jennifer Carroll, Assistant Director at the Community Action Partnership of North Alabama, where Tim Thrasher serves as CEO.

Jennifer delivered a powerful and compelling testimony that not only highlighted the critical importance of the Head Start program, but also painted a clear and passionate picture of the impact Community Action continues to make across our communities. Her voice was steady, her message was strong, and her presence was a shining example of the professionalism and heart that define our network.

One moment that stood out was the response from Representative Rosa DeLauro, who offered heartfelt comments on Jennifer’s testimony. Her remarks emphasized the vital role Head Start plays and underscored her deep respect for Community Action Agencies and the work we do daily to uplift children, families, and communities.

I encourage you all to take a moment to watch Jennifer’s testimony here (Jennifer was the second witness on the agenda.):

In these challenging times filled with uncertainty, frustration, and negativity, Jennifer’s testimony was a refreshing and much-needed reminder of the strength, purpose, and unity that lives within this network. Please join me in thanking and commending Jennifer (JCarroll@capna.org) for a job incredibly well done.

Let’s share this moment of pride and positivity far and wide — our voices matter, and they are being heard!
